The certified nursing assistant position provides quality nursing care to The Bluffs residents; coordinates work within the department; reports pertinent information to the immediate supervisor; and assists the immediate supervisor with tasks to support the department operations.

- Provides care that maintains resident’s skin condition to prevent skin damage by changing incontinent residents, turning, repositioning immobile residents and applying moisturizers.
- Answers residents’ call lights promptly.
- Performs tasks assigned by RN/LPN Charge Nurse, including checking vital signs, weighing residents. Lift, moves and transports resident’s, using proper body mechanics or lifting devices for accident prevention.

The certified medicine technician is responsible for administering medication to residents as ordered by attending physician.
Essential Functions

- Administer prescribed medications to residents ordered by attending physician or Medical Director by following labeling practice and verifying identity of resident and recording name of drug, dosage, and time of administration following established policies and procedures.
- Verify medications are not administered without a written, signed and dated order from attending physician or Medical Director.
- Presents medication to residents and observes ingestion or other application, using specified procedures.
- Takes vital signs or observes resident to detect response to specified types of medications and promptly notifies RN/LPN Charge Nurse of unexpected reactions.
- Follows established policy and procedures for holding medications when instructed or discontinued by attending physician or Medical Director.
- Documents reasons prescribed medications not administered and report all medication errors.
- Verify all medications are properly labeled and dated and verify narcotic medication counts with RN/LPN Charge Nurse.
- Document all medication, vital signs and resident changes using established nursing process and procedures.
- Provide direct resident care that falls within the Certified Nursing Assistant job description as required.
- Serve on committees as needed.

Position Overview:
4-6- 8-10 hr. shifts hours vary from 5am to 7:30pm
7days a week
Breakfast-Lunch Dinner prepared and served up to 132 residents
Must be available to work weekends
Cook/Prep
- Follow simple recipe instructions with residents dietary orders.
- Fast pace, time limit window for meal prep with multiple diet orders
- Monitor food temps, proper food balance quality and quantity.
- Control food waste.
- Follow directions of Director for Safety and care of residents
- Ability to Clean, orangize, stock. Deep Clean equipment.
- Ability to Clean, stock, organize, sweep and mop.
Server/Prep
- Help prep for upcoming meal. Work as team to prepare, serve, deliver, and clean up each meal as dietary group team with a time limit.
- Set up tables in main and other dining areas with attention to cleanliness and order. (wrap silverware, waterglasses, stocking, organizing. deep cleaning ect)
- Assist residents with any needs, including clothing protectors and menu orders.
- Provides excellent customer service by assisting residents with food and drink selections, presenting menu and assistance with ordering, offering alternatives and providing warm and friendly conversations during entire meal periods.
- Serve meals at designated times.
- Clean up dining areas, restock area, assist with duties in kitchen area.
- Discard leftovers and take out garbage.
- Stock and monitor condiments.
- Help put away dishes until shift ends.
Dishwasher/Sanitation
- Wash and sanitize dishes for 125 residents with a commerical dish machine
- Shifts are 7-3pm 11-7pm must be available Saturday and Sunday
- Clean and sanitize bus carts.
- Hand wash bigger cooking pots and pans
- Sort silverware, bowls, glasses.
- Stock dishware after washed and dried.
- Prepare 6 bus carts for each meal
- Remove trash
- Delime dish machine weekly
- Wash, clean, organize, deep clean coolers, stock area.
- Work with dietary team to complete, serve, clean up meals within limited time.
- Ability to work alone in a dishroom area

Work Environment
This position operates in a kitchen environment, housed with equipment such as an oven, stove, dishwasher, coffee machine, steamer, mixer and chef’s knives. The employee is frequently exposed to heat, steam, fire and noise. Muliple personnel working in a close area.

Summary/Objective
The Culinary Services Dishwasher is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards, using machine and manual cleaning methods. This position also ensures the dishwashing area is maintained as a clean, safe and sanitary facility.
Essential Functions

- Sort and rinse dirty dishes and other cooking utensils and place them in racks to send through dish machine.
- Clean and sanitize all carts

Tori Moore
Executive Director
My name is Tori Benton. I joined The Bluffs family as the Assistant Administrator in 2021. I was born in Missouri but grew up in Alabama. I moved back to Missouri in 2009 and have been working in long-term care ever since. I have experience in administration, finance, social work, marketing, and human resources- all in the long-term care setting. I received my administrator’s license in June of 2022. I absolutely love my job! I have a heart for serving and cannot imagine a better place to do it. In my spare time I draw and paint (I’ve even sold a few pictures). I am a volunteer with Volunteer for Veterans. I also serve on the security team and outreach team at my church. I have a dashingly handsome husband and three beautiful children, two boys and girl. My oldest son has made me a proud Army mom!
Amanda Brown

I am Amanda Brown and I am the Admissions Director. I joined
Team Bluffs in 2015 after graduating from the University of Missouri with a
Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences. Prior to coordinating admissions, I was a care coordinator for long-term care and memory care. My role as Admissions Director allows me to help others and serve as a resource for the community! When not at work, I am a fur-mama to my dogs Remi and Max. I love scrapbooking & crafting in my spare time. My husband, Matt, and I are season ticket members for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Kayla Twenter
Clinical Liaison
I am Kayla Twenter and I am the Clinical Liaison at the Bluffs. I joined this role at the Bluffs in April 2022, previously working at this facility, in the Therapy Department, as an Occupational Therapy Assistant for 6 years. I have enjoyed working in skilled nursing and acute care. I enjoy reading, being outside and shopping. Outside of work, I am a Momma to two kiddos – Ada and Stetson and married to my husband Shane. Long Term Care is where my heart is!
Amanda David
Nurse: Infection Control Prevention
My name is Amanda David and I have been a Nurse since 2003 – I graduated from Nichols Career Center in Jefferson City, MO. I also attained my CNA in high school. I have been in the long-term care setting most of my nursing career. I have functioned in many roles – charge nurse, wound care nurse, ADON, MDS coordinator and now infection control prevention. Nursing truly is my passion in life! I am looking forward to working with a great team and being part of helping our residents stay safe and healthy.
Janell Irvin
Care Coordinator for Oak, Short Term Rehab unit
My name is Janell Irvin and I am the Care Coordinator for Oak, our Short Term Rehab unit. I have worked in Long Term Care for about 35 years. I joined the Bluffs Team in 2021. I began my journey as an Activities Assistant when I was in college and fell into the Social Services role when someone went on maternity leave and that’s where I found my niche. I love getting to know residents and families navigate the long term care journey. My favorite part of my job is helping those who are safely able to return home get there. I am married to Rob and we have 2 sons, Bryce and Spencer.
Erica Utterback

I am Erica Utterback, and I am the Director of Life Enrichment. I have worked at the Bluffs for 22 years. I began working as an NA, then CNA and on to many different roles such as the Scheduling Coordinator, Restorative Therapy Aide, Activity Assistant and then on to my current role as Director of Life Enrichment. In my free time I am a fur mama, enjoy going on hikes, camping, telling jokes and billiards. I like to live by the saying, “Growing old is inevitable, but growing up is optional.”
